Parabolic and Gaussian White Noise Approximation for Wave Propagation in Random Media
نویسندگان
چکیده
The parabolic or forward scattering approximation has been used extensively in the study of wave propagation. This approximation is combined with a gaussian white noise approximation for waves propagating in a random medium. The validity of this approximation is proved for stratiied weakly uctuating random media in the high frequencies regime. The limiting distribution of the wave eld is characterized as the unique solution of a random Schrr odinger equation studied by Dawson and Papanicolaou 4]. The proofs are based on various generalizations of the perturbed test function method developped by Kushner 9].

With the rapid growth of indoor wireless communication systems, the need to accurately model radio wave propagation inside the building environments has increased. Many site-specific methods have been proposed for modeling indoor radio channels. Among these methods, the ray tracing algorithm and the finite-difference time domain (FDTD) method are the most popular ones. The ray tracing approach ...
متن کاملParabolic and white-noise approximations for elastic waves in random media
In this paper we carry out an asymptotic analysis of the elastic wave equations in random media in the parabolic white-noise regime. In this regime, the propagation distance is much larger than the initial beam width, which is itself much larger than the typical wavelength; moreover, the correlation length of the random medium is of the same order as the initial beam width, and the amplitude of...
متن کاملFractional White-Noise Limit and Paraxial Approximation for Waves in Random Media
This work is devoted to the asymptotic analysis of high frequency wave propagation in random media with long-range dependence. We are interested in two asymptotic regimes, that we investigate simultaneously: the paraxial approximation, where the wave is collimated and propagates along a privileged direction of propagation, and the white-noise limit, where random uctuations in the background are...
متن کاملScaling Limits for Beam Wave Propagation in Atmospheric Turbulence
Description of waves that propagate through the turbulent atmosphere is a fundamental problem, for instance from the point of view of applications to communication and remote sensing. Yet, so far, very little is known about how the wave field interacts with the turbulent or multiscale nature of the refractive index which derives from the multiscale nature of the temperature fluctuations. The pa...
متن کاملWhite-noise Limit of Wigner and Liouville Equations for Wave Beams in Turbulent Media
Starting with the Wigner function formulation for beam wave propagation in Hölder continuous non-Gaussian random refractive index fields we show that the wave beam regime naturally leads to the white-noise scaling limit and converges to a Gaussian Markovian model which is characterized the martingale problem associated to a stochastic differential-integral equation of the Ito type. In the geome...
